Welcome back to the Whitterview! This week, I talk with D'Kia Anderson and all the shows she's been on up until this point. You may have seen her on Nashville, Lethal Weapon, The Big Bang Theory, and many others. In fact, keep an eye out on an upcoming episode of Grey's Anatomy, you'll see D'Kia on one of my favorite TV shows soon. I can't wait to see a familiar face.
So let's get to it! I bring you D'Kia Anderson for the 17th Whitterview!
Tell me about yourself:
DA: I was raised in Baltimore MD by both of my parents and maternal Grandmother. Both of my parents are now retired educators so growing up in my household, education was always important. They instilled many values, especially that of education, attending college. I accomplished their dream and then set to pursue my own as an actor.
If you weren't an actress what would you be?
DA: Hmmm.. If I weren't an actress, I'd probably be a street performer. Performing is in my blood, it seems innate. I have no clue what I'd do.
Did you always want to get into acting?
DA: I've always "acted" for as long as I can remember. I grew up acting in the annual school plays. It was always something enjoyable for me.
Where were you when you got your first big break?
DA: Within my first year of moving to Los Angeles, I booked a ColdStone commercial with the Massey Brothers from "Thats so Raven". To me, that was a big, exciting break!
What has been your favorite show to be on?
DA: Thus far, I've had the most fun on Lethal Weapon!
Tell me about being on Greys (if you can):
DA: I can't say too much, but I had a pretty cool role! Working with Jesse was pretty awesome. He was very kind and easy to work with!
If you could be on any show which would it be and why?
DA: I think I'd love to be on "Dear White People"! That's the genre and reality that I fit perfectly into. I love the storyline, the characters and the honesty of the show.
Have you been really starstruck by anyone you've worked with?
DA: I've never been starstruck, but I was uber excited to work with Damon Wayans on Lethal Weapon.
And on The Big Bang Theory I worked with Mayim Bialik, who played "Blossom". I dont remember much of the show but I remember her face and hat! I kept that to myself the few days on set with her, but she was so lovely to work with!
If you could have dinner with three people who would it be?
DA: I'd have dinner with Charles King of Macro , Ava Duvernay and Will Smith
Who is your celeb crush?
DA: hmmm... My celebrity crush is.....hmmm.... Winston Duke, M'Baku of Black Panther!
