Bachelor Night One Recap with Lacey Mark in Whitterview 42

Did you miss me? Its been quite a few weeks since the last Whitterview. But I'm finally back (sort of) to kick off 2019. What do I mean by sort of? Well this week Lacey Mark from Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor is back to take over the Whitterview to recap the three hour long premiere of this seasons The Bachelor.

Welcome back to the Whitterview! I'm passing the torch off to Lacey this week and let's dive in to the episode!

What do you think of these viewing parties around the country? Why do you think they’re doing it now?

LM: I was supposed to be at the Park City, Utah one but couldn’t swing it with my current schedule! I think to an extent they’re fun (interacting with fans and getting them more involved in the franchise is a good move), but I think it was a bit overdone.  I kept finding myself asking when the actual episode would start because we were just seeing watch party after watch party. They’re obviously doing it for the ratings and to take away from people’s negative thoughts on Colton, but I think it totally backfired.  They ended up annoying a lot of viewers. I would have rather seen more of Colton’s meaningful interactions.  There was a tweet from Kristen Baldwin last night that said Colton asked a producer for tea to bring to Alex because she was sick. I’m sad we didn’t get to see things like that because we were subjected to watch parties.

What were your thoughts on the entrances?

LM: I guess they couldn’t get any camels on short notice this year ;).  They were cute! The entrances were way more subdued this year then they have been in past years.  Seems like everyone just wanted a chance to make a virginity joke.

Who was your favorite entrance?

LM: I’d say the two I remember the most are the sloth (obviously, shout out Alexis Waters though you did it better and stayed in costume the whole night) and the nut girl.  I will never forget now that her last name is McNutt.  

Who were best dressed of the night?

LM: I loved Alex’s emerald green dress! It’s my absolute favorite color right now.

Worst dressed?

LM: I adoreeee her but I was not a fan of Cassie’s printed dress. But let’s be honest---she’s so gorgeous she could have been wearing a potato sack and it still would have looked good.

The dreaded all-nighter, do any of the contestant’s nap while they aren’t on camera? How many times are these girls refreshing their makeup? What do you do while you wait?

LM: Hey, even Abraham Lincoln took naps! Yes, contestants nap when they can.  We’re up all night in evening wear and heels, it’s exhausting. I think I refreshed my makeup twice on the first night, once before talking to Nick and once before the rose ceremony. No one wants to look like a mess on camera!  While were waiting for the night to progress we’re chatting with each other, going into one on one interviews with producers and pretty much stalking the lead to see where he is and what he’s doing.  There’s a lot to keep track of night one!

What do you think of who he gave the first impression rose to? LM: Hannah is STUNNING! SO pretty that it almost hurts.  I really liked Colton’s reasoning for giving it to her.  ‘Feeling like home’ is something I look for in a guy, so I completely understood why that feeling was so important to him.

Do any give you “here for the wrong reasons” vibes?

LM: Helllooooo Catherine.

Who are your early favorites for paradise?LM: Hello again Catherine! She was made for paradise, I can’t wait to see her in action.

Any early favorites?

LM: I love Cassie and Hannah G.! They seem very genuine and interested in actually getting to know Colton. Insert ‘for the right reasons’ here." ABC did an amazing job with this cast though; one woman is more beautiful than the next.  I almost feel bad for Colton; how does one choose?!

What were your thoughts of the episode as a whole? 

LM: I ended up really liking Colton by the end of it.  I think he’s finally in the right mindset to handle a situation like this.  BUTTTT three hours of him was a lot to handle! No more watch parties, ABC.  Cut it down to 2 hours and just give us all that great bachelor content we want to see. Some of the girls really surprised me and I love how Onyeka stood up for the rest of the girls with Catherine.  That was something a lot of us considered on our first night as well.  I remember Corinne had stolen Nick on numerous occasions and all of us girls were helping each other out to make sure everyone got to speak to him at least once.  I’m interested to see how the rest of that plays out.

If you got to choose the bachelor who would you choose?

LM: I’ve had the same answer to this question for years, Ben Higgins.  Hey Ben, I’m single.  Call me. 

How many virgin jokes do you think we will hear this season?

LM: Too many.  I’m already so over the virgin jokes and Colton obviously is too.  

Plus, it seems like some of these girls are in the same boat he is, 

so I hope we can move on from that and just see some meaningful relationships unfold. 

What do you think we can expect from this season?

LM: DRAMA from the looks of it! I can’t wait to see it unravel. 

 As much as I’m focusing on Colton finding the one, 

I really want to see what happens with Miss Alabama and Miss North Carolina. 

If beauty pageant drama is anything like Miss Congeniality, color me excited.
