"You learn you're never going to win an argument with a woman." - Mike Johnson, (MEN TAKE NOTE during this interview)
Bachelor Nation! Are you ready for my next interview? I am SO E X C I T E D, to bring you into the life of fan favorite Mike Johnson from the recent season of The Bachelorette.
Across the nation, we fell in love with Mike week after week on his journey to capture Hannah's heart we also saw him put his heart on the line for another journey for Bachelor in Paradise. Let me tell ya, he is just as genuine and a happy guy just like we all fell in love with on TV. I mean, he even signs his email with "Smile," TALK ABOUT SWOOOOON? Am I right?
I also hope you're sitting down reading this, because once you get to his fun fact you'll fall over dying of laughter.
Enough rambling, let's get to it.
I'm pleased to introduce you to Mike!
Tell me about you:
MJ: I call my home, Grand Prairie, TX which is apart of the Dallas metroplex. I moved to Grand Prairie in the sixth grade after going to a school in Irving that same year. Prior to moving to Grand Prairie we moved around numerous times. I remember living in Austin, Irving, Grand Prairie – all those just in TX. We lived in AZ, WA, GA, VA, overseas. I lived with my mom, sister and grandma for the majority of my youth. In my teenage years it was just myself, mom and sister.
Growing up with women two things happen as a man:
1. You learn you’re never going to win an argument with a woman and
2. You’re just wrong... but seriously 2. You learn the struggles that women go through whether it be dealing with men in a relationship dealing from a work to intimate relationship.
Growing up did you ever think you would be on reality TV?
MJ: Never! I thought growing up I’d be an undercover FBI detective or big time actor. Then as I grew up I focused my thought around what type of lifestyle I wanted to live in comparison to what type of career I wanted! For me, it’s: financial freedom, be a full time husband and dad (stay at home parents if we choose), focus on my passions/hobbies, have significance in my community in some aspect. So I learned that certain career choices wouldn’t allow me to have the time to spend with my future family as I desire.
If you could be on any other reality show which would it be?
MJ: American Ninja Warrior, Survivor or World of Dance, also I love travel shows!
Did you watch the Bachelor franchise before you got on the show?
MJ: Never watched a season.
Tell me about casting, did you apply yourself or did someone nominate you?
MJ: I applied myself after a friend sent me the FB casting call. I was off work that day and didn’t have anything productive to do so I figured why not, plus a friend a few years back told me she was going to apply for me to be on the show.
Would you go on BIP again?
MJ: Leaning hard towards the no answer. If they (ABC) wanted me to be a contestant on the show I’d prefer to be the Bachelor and not on BIP.
What was your favorite memory from the Bachelorette and BIP?
MJ: While on Bachelorette I loved when for the first time ever in my life and hopefully the last time, like 15 of us guys all got into the hot tub together having drinks and just getting to know each other. From BIP, it would definitely have to be going to Chris and Krystal’s wedding. The reception was amazing!
Do you still hang out with any of your fellow castmates?
MJ: Definitely. I’ve hung out with multiple guys from the show outside of media related stuff. I’d say Connor S. and I kick it the most though.
Tell me about your time in the Air Force, do you think you would go back some day?
MJ: Choosing to join the AF thus far in my life was a top 3 decision. I was able to expand my horizon and small mindset to become cultured and see how other people view the world. I wouldn’t go back though. I want to have a wife and children one day and if I joined the military I could deploy again and I wouldn’t want to be away from my family that long.
With the holiday's coming around, what has been your favorite gift to give someone?
MJ: Just for the record, I give the best gifts! My favorite gift I’ve given I would say was when I gave my ex an origami blue construction paper that made out to be a blue lily. Those were her favorite flowers and I couldn’t find any so I made them! I paired it with a letter and in the letter I said, “I love you”, it was the first time I said that.
What are you looking for in your ideal woman? Do you have a specific type?
MJ: I’m looking for someone who thinks I’m her superhero and I feel she’s my superhero. Loyalty to the point to where she simply wants nothing but my happiness and is loyal knowing I want nothing but to make her happy. I like style, a bit of sassiness and ambition.
What's a fun fact people may not know about you?
MJ: I moon people from my apt balcony when I’m annoyed with something, it literally cheers me right up!
Who is your celebrity crush?
MJ: Lori Harvey, Sabrina Claudio, Tinashe , Zoe Kravitz, and Charlize Theron.
Fans everywhere, want to know, what do they have to do to get you to marry them?
MJ: Easy. Meet me, intrigue me with your confidence, aspirations and be sexy solely with your aura.
And finally, if you could have dinner with three people who would they be?
MJ: David Goggins, Sir Richard Branson, and Rihanna!
