Well, well, well… look at that. Back again so soon... Who is she??
It’s only been two weeks since my last post, which in Whitterview time is basically responsible, consistent, thriving behavior.
But let’s not pretend this is about me. This time, I’m chatting with none other than Gabe Wai, a contender from the most recent season of MTV's The Challenge: filmed all the way in Chile, full of strategy, chaos, and yes… extremely strong Taurus energy that came from Gabe. Oh, and here’s a fun tidbit: Gabe’s biggest fear? Birds. And I quote: “I hate birds with a passion. I can’t do them, if they’re in the road I will walk around them. I can’t stand them!”
So buckle up. I asked alllll the questions and got alll the answers.
I am excited to introduce to you, former bird fearing, WWE superstar and latest Rookie Challenger... Gabe!
Tell me about you!
GW: I grew up in Corvallis, Oregon originally, but was adopted at the age of two from Guatemala. As I was growing up, I grew away from my parents and we actually do not speak anymore. I’m not even too sure if they have seen the season or if they care to see it which is why I have such an individual mindset and it’s taking me years to get out of that mentality.
Growing up did you ever think you’d get into reality tv? And how did you get into reality tv?
GW: Growing up, I knew I was destined to do something big, but I definitely thought that was gonna be professional sports specifically football, but I never thought I would be in the reality TV realm. I liked watching it growing up because it brought entertainment, but I never thought that I would be doing it. I actually was able to do The Challenge because I had been interviewed previously when I was with WWE by a producer in the same production company and she really liked my story but the WWE said I could not do that show. So she just kept my information on file and when The Challenge came up, they pulled my information because they liked my background they reached out! I remember the day very vividly because I had always been a fan of The Challenge and getting a call like that, I was shaking at that point in time. I was actually pending for two other other shows that are very commonly known, and I turned those two so that I could do the The Challenge.
Tell me about your time with your WWE background. How did you get into that world?
GW: My time with the WWE was a great experience but I definitely wasn’t expecting to do it. Originally I thought I was going to go and play professional rugby overseas, but overtime it turned out that there was more money with WWE so I ended up to do that!
Tell me about your Rookie Challenge season. (Thoughts, feelings, what you wished we could’ve seen that wasn’t aired) What was your least favorite challenge? What about your favorite?
GW: My rookie season was definitely a hectic season, and I underestimated the mental strength you have to have as well as the physicality, which is why The Challenge is so amazing because you can have a very athletic person go in there and there will always be an equalizer! You guys didn’t get to see the times where we would sit around and just tell jokes and laugh and spend time with each other and I think that is a super pure and beautiful moment! My least favorite challenge was episode three because I wasn’t able to compete and I don’t like sitting out. My favorite challenge Runes My Life, the one above water with Aneesa. Aneesa was such an amazing partner and I felt like in that small partnership I learned a ton!
If you got to choose your partner for the next season pick one male and one female you dream of being partnered up with one day and for the whole season.
GW: If I had to choose a partner for a season male wise, it would be Jake. Him and I are super close. For the females, I would choose Jonna. We’ve already went through the hardest part of being partners and you can’t get any lower than that. Ever since then she has became a mentor and a sister to me. We’re actually very close now!
Tell me about filming in Santiago/Chile!
GW: I loved Santiago. I thought it was really nice weather and very similar to where I live now in Orlando. When we did get to go out on our challenges, it was always such a blessing to be able to drive through the city and see all the sites. I really wish I had taken time afterwards to go and travel the country more. I did really like it!
If you could be on any other reality show which would it be and why?
GW: It would probably be Special Forces. I think it would be right up my alley and I would have a lot of fun with it, but it would also test me in ways I’ve never been tested before!
Besides being in the spotlight, what else do you do for work?
GW: I actually am in sales. I sell brand new cars. It’s a lot of fun because I get to talk to people every single day!
And finally, if you could have dinner with three people who would they be and why?

GW: It would be: Michael, B Jordan, President Barack Obama, and LeBron James. All pivotable people of black history and men who would give me insight on my life as well! They’re all influential men for a reason, and I would love to learn from them.
