At the beginning of 2018, we started off the year with a new season of The Bachelor. Fans met Maquel Cooper the first night of the new season when she made her way to the Bachelor Mansion in a racecar, fitting for Bachelor Arie, a racecar driver.
The stunning Maquel graced our TV screens for five weeks and she's here today in the 40th Whitterview, giving us an inside look into her life.
Let's get to it! Introducing Maquel Cooper!
Tell me about you!
MC: I grew up in American Fork. Best parents EVER! So supportive and loving. Three siblings. Two brothers (one has passed) and an older sister. I have three nephews and one niece that are my WORLD!
Growing up, did you ever think you would be on reality TV?
MC: Growing up I watched The Bachelor and never had any clue I'd be on it. But everyone would say I'd be perfect for it!
Tell me about your first night on the show. What were you feeling?
MC: First night on The Bachelor was the most surreal experience I've ever had. SO MANY EMOTIONS! So nerve racking and anxious. I remember getting out of the Indy car hoping I wouldn't trip over my dress, or one of my extensions fly out during my hair flip! I was exhausted by the end of the night (or morning, 8:00 am)
Did you submit yourself for the show or did someone else?
MC: I submitted myself online out of anger/depression being single. I had no idea they would even look at my application, and I got a call from ABC about two weeks later. It kinda just fell into my lap. They'd call and check in, ask me for video/photos and I'd be late on every deadline! I don't even know how I got accepted!
Would you ever go on Bachelor in Paradise or The Bachelor Winter Games?
MC: I'd maybe be interested in BIP, but all just depends on where I'm at in life/still single. I honestly got a little PTSD from the whole experience. It's draining.
You're a photographer. If you would photograph any celebrity wedding, who's would it be?
MC: If I could photograph any celebrity wedding.... Hmmmm.... Probably a Kardashian, or Royal Family. That's kinda the biggest.
Do you have a favorite photo you've taken?
MC: Favorite photo... That's a tough one. I had many favorites. But one of my all times favorites is from a wedding in Canada, it started snowing and we were so sad because it was such a beautiful location. So I made them run outside for one quick photo in the snow and it was sooo beautiful. I loved how it captured their day.
If you could be on any other reality show which would it be?
MC: If I could be on another reality TV show I think America's Next Top Model would be ideal. I model for one of my occupations and I think it would be so fun to learn new things and grow from the experience.
What is something people may not know about you?
MC: Something people may not know about me..... Hmm I'm actually a very compassionate, empathetic person. And I don't think I look like that type of person until you get to know me. I've got a lot softer heart than I portray. The worldly things don't mean much to me either.
And finally, if you could have dinner with three people who would they be and why?
MC: Honestly...
Jesus would be my first choice. Because obviously. He makes the most sense. Pretty self explanatory.
My older brother who passed. Just because I miss him, and he was one of my best friends.
And Shania Twain. Because she's my absolute favorite artist. So humble and fun. I'd love to learn about her and just hang.
